Second in the series of multidisciplinary symposia on skin hosted by London College of Fashion.
SKIN: the ultimate interface
This was the first event in the series which brought together dermatological, surgical and nursing specialists, artists, scientists, designers and patients to present and discuss different perspectives on skin. This symposium challenged thinking about the skin and the part it plays in determining body image, by asking a range of questions never before considered in a single event.
So what can we expect from this second symposium?
This symposium explores the seam between our first (biological) skin and our second skin (clothing) and their resulting intimate, intricate interaction.
skin2 will present thought-provoking insights from Dermatology, Design, Material Science, Psychology, Business and Medicine to discuss our human species and its unique adoption of a second skin. skin2 will consider the individual and combined roles of our first and second skins, today and tomorrow, in the context of an increasingly challenging, constantly changing world.

We want to continue sending the message that we deal with the skin from various aspects, that our work and interests are multi-disciplinary, that the LCF, and in particular the Better Living Hub, wants to reach to a diverse audience and share new scientific and other insights with them. – Prof Danka Tamburic
