Here at UAL we have a Postgraduate Community programme active across all of our six colleges. The Postgraduate Community platform aims to build and provide access to a diverse programme of events that target our entire postgraduate taught and research student body.

The Postgraduate Community is recruiting a team of 7 Postgraduate Community Ambassadors for the Autumn Term, 2017, with the possibility of further employment:

  • 1 x UAL PhD Researcher
  • 1 x PG student based at Camberwell College of Arts
  • 1 x PG student based at Chelsea College of Arts
  • 1 x PG student based at Central Saint Martins
  • 1 x PG student based at London College of Communication
  • 1 x PG student based at London College of Fashion
  • 1 x PG student based at Wimbledon College of Arts

Ambassadors will assist with our social media channels, help deliver and plan events and act as ambassadors and point of contact for the Postgraduate Community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for current Postgraduate students (both taught and research) to take a more active role in the Postgraduate Community at UAL, gain experience and paid work whilst studying.

Tasks could include:

  • Promoting PG Community activity on PG Community social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter
  • Writing postgraduate related content for the PG Community Blog
  • Assisting at PG Community events
  • Organising and delivering your own PG Community event
  • Helping to grow the Postgraduate Community both online and offline.
  • Being an ambassador for the PG Community at your college, and when the opportunity arises, in other contexts.

Skills and experience:

Applicants need to be:

  • A current Postgraduate student at UAL (taught or research)
  • Motivated and willing to take the initiative
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Good at communication
  • Confident and people focussed
  • Able to work independently, manage your own time, workload and deadlines
  • Previous experience of social media, planning and delivering events could be useful, but is not essential.

You will be required to register with ArtsTemps and will be paid at Rate 2 (£11.88 p/h including holiday pay). This will be paid monthly, on the submission of a time sheet.

The number of hours of work each month will vary depending on your availability and the amount of Postgraduate Community Activity taking place. As a guide, we anticipate this to be around 5 hours a month.

How to apply:

 Please send us:

  • a CV (no more than 2 sides)
  • a covering letter (maximum 500 words) telling us why you would like to be a PG Community Ambassador and outlining your relevant skills and experience.
