Another spectacular London College of Communication Summer Shows season has drawn to a close and we’re looking back on the most exciting events and exhibitions of the past five weeks.
Settle in for a round-up of School of Media highlights, with the School of Design to follow very soon!
LCC graduate James Gilpin headed up the design for our Summer Shows identity. Graduating in 2008, James studied BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design specialising in Interaction and Moving Image, and went on to study at the RCA. He has worked as a creative director and interaction designer for brands such as Nike, Gap, UAL and Arsenal football club. He now runs a production company specialising in design and build services for exhibitions, retail environments and artist commissions. We caught up with James to find out a bit more about his work and his time working with LCC.
Staff on London College of Communication’s BA (Hons) Sound Arts and Design and MA Sound Arts courses are celebrating after University of the Arts London was announced as 18th of 75 in the Guardian’s university league table for music, or more broadly “the study of creative expression through sound”.
LCC’s Podium Lecture Theatre and Typo Café will be home to this year’s BA (Hons)/FdA Animation show. Students on this course are versatile, playful, creative and collaborative. You can expect a wide variety of original work showcasing students’ breadth of creative and technical ability.
You can watch Isabel Garrett’s ‘Bye Bye Dandelion’ which is a short animated film about the fleeting friendship between an imaginary creature called Mu and a dandelion. Shot on location in Cumbria, the film combines stop motion character animation, live action backgrounds and CGI.
