London College of Communication graduates, Victoria Burns, Loubna Turjuman and Virginia Fuentes, launched their own digital platform ‘The Doc Collective’ for micro documentaries, after meeting on the MA Documentary Film course.
The 2014 graduates all had eclectic backgrounds, with Virgina hailing from advertising and script writing, Victoria having worked as a TV researcher and Loubna coming from a broadcast journalism background. The site releases new ‘DOCCO’ content every Tuesday, with their first season titled ‘Rituals and Beliefs’ and its premiering series on Iceland titled, ‘The Mythic Guide to Iceland’.
The trio told us: “We were all drawn to the course because it seemed to combine the perfect blend of both theory with practical. The MA course provided a solid overview of the evolution of documentary film-making, whilst also developing specialist skills in filming, directing and editing. The three of us had no prior experience before our MA and since graduating, we were able to come away with a whole new set of skills.”
We caught up with Victoria, Loubna and Virginia to hear about The Doc Collective…
