Matthew Boyle, tutor on Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at the London College of Communication (LCC) features in the upcoming exhibition MARMALADE FACT0RY at The Ragged School Museum.

For this exhibition boyleANDshaw, artists Matthew Boyle and Adrian R Shaw, have produced new works in which the artists superimpose sculpture, film, sound, text and live performance onto one of the Museum’s Victorian schoolrooms.

THE MARMALADE FACT0RY continues boyleANDshaw’s exploration of their hyper-productivity and their understanding of themselves as ‘catalysts’ rather then creators. Their focus is not on the object but on the possibilities that allow it to come about – the problem of fostering new collaborative dynamics with artists, musicians and thinkers. In this process the duo dissolve the intentions and desires of their identities into a work that ultimately evades their full control.

The exhibition includes a new film ‘The Spiritual Life of Knotweed’ and collaborations with artists and performers, including The Shaw Brothers, the most prolific producers of video games for the ZX Spectrum home computer. A book, ‘boyleANDshaw: THE MARMALADE FACT0RY’, is also being produced to coincide with the project and a limited, ‘expanded’ edition will be created during THE MARMALADE FACT0RY.
