Simon Collister, a senior lecturer in PR at London College of Communication, is enjoying recognition as an expert in the field of digital communications.

Share This, published by Wiley, is a collection of pioneering essays by leading practitioners on the subject of social media and PR.  What differentiates this title from the many others on the shelves is the range of experience held by its authors. They cover a range of topics, and provide specific illustrations to contextualise their descriptions of the transformative power of new media.

Coordinated by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the text is UK-focussed and particularly suited to the needs of British business and industry.

Simon’s chapter covers the third sector – charities and not-for-profit organisations.  He has focussed on altruistic work throughout his career, and his premise in Share This is that a lot of strategic and tactical changes that organisations must now make can run counter to current thinking.

The LCC tutor was also part of the Arts Council’s first podcast in a new series called Digital R&D.  Along with Spencer Hyman, who is on the board of LinkedIn, and Charlie Beckett of the Arts Council, the debate was on social media and user-generated content in Arts marketing.
