Alumnus designs title sequence for X-Men: First Class

Simon Clowes, an alumnus from LCC’s FdA Design for Graphic Communication and BA Graphic & Media Design, has designed the title sequence for the new ‘X-Men: First Class’ on Blu-Ray, which hit the stores last month.

In the clip below, Simon and Kyle Cooper Founder of Prologue Films talk in-depth about the 60s-style retro title sequence used at the end of the film.

After graduating from LCC in 2005, Simon worked for Red Bee Media (formerly BBC broadcast) before moving to Los Angeles to work for Kyle Cooper at Prologue Films. Since then he has worked on titles sequences for Sherlock Holmes, Orphan, The Factory, Scarface: The World is Yours, Superman Returns, The Academy Awards, and ESPN NFL. An impressive back catalogue!

Just heard back from Simon, here is what he had to say: “It has been nice keeping in touch with LCC, Sarah [Temple] informs me of what is going on from time to time. Life has been an adventure and very busy, but have been learning a lot with Kyle [Cooper] and working with some amazing talented individuals over here. It would be nice to keep involved with LCC in some way, we have also had some ex-students work at Prologue, including of course Henry Hobson who was fantastic, a very talented director and designer, we are still in touch. As for your question regarding the ISTD [http://www.istd.org.uk/education], I completed the student program with Dave Dabner [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xg5O0l7ybY] in 2004, I have the certificate hanging on my wall hahaha!’.

Have your say!
