An LCF industry project with Sony Ericsson invited 80 students to create hi-tech designs for the future. The winner, Georgie Davies (2nd year BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development), designed a cocktail dress that lit up if the wearer’s mobile phone rang.

'Bicycle bling for geared up girls'.

In the summer of 2008, LCF BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development student and cyclist Amy Fleuriot started up her clothing company Cyclodelic ‘in response to the lack of stylish yet functional bicycle wear for women’. Now her handmade range has launched at Topshop’s flagship Oxford St store.

Amy partnered up with Textile Design Graduate and ex courier Sarah Buck, and used their combined knowledge of fashion, textiles and cycling to achieve their shared goal of enabling women to look good when they are out on their bikes. Cyclodelic sells through bicycle boutiques across London and online.

Recent MA Fashion Footwear graduate Weronika Lesniak is one of five finalists in the prestigious 2009 Independent Handbag Designer Awards (IHDA). Weronika’s ‘War of the Banks’ collection has been selected for the ‘Best Shoe in Overall Style and Design’ category; she will now fly to New York for the awards ceremony on June 17th.

1st-year BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear student Amber Bessey sent this shot from her latest project. 

These pieces are from my jean and jersey project. They were inspired by the complexity of music. The composition is overlooked, but if you study closely you can see depth within the whole. The bolero is made up of woven jersey strips. Very crafty!

BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development graduates Emma-Jayne Parkes and Viviane Jaeger have joined forces to start up SquidLondon, an innovative new business specialising in smart materials. Since leaving LCF in June this year, the pair have been busy setting up their new venture, partly thanks to funding from their runners-up prize in the Deutsche Bank Pyramid award.
