Wednesday June 18th saw LCF host a special FashTech event as part of London Technology Week at the High Holborn site.

Described as a ‘live fashion meets tech sauna’, the event was aimed at those who are involved and interested in the rapidly growing world of Fashion and Technology. Those attending took the opportunity to get inspired, network and gain a better understanding as to why the fashion technology scene in London is so successful right now.

A panel of leading industry figures kicked things off. Coming together under the banner ‘Fashion Teach Tech’ they were led by LCF Lecturer in Fashion Branding and Retail Strategy and Course Leader of the Graduate Diploma Fashion Management Karinna Nobbs. These industry representatives from leading fashion brands and retailers discussed and diagnosed the challenges that the FashTech community should tackle and innovate within.

Panellist Brooke Roberts then presented a talk on ‘How Technology and Fashion Design Mix’. Brooke, an award-winning digital knitwear designer, who draws on over a decade of experience as an NHS diagnostic radiographer showed knitwear designs inspired by MRI brain scans, seriously impressing the tech savvy audience.

Also presenting were Luxury Brand Marketing Specialist, Francesca Bernard, and Brand Strategy and Innovation Manager at New Look, Arak Bhokanandh.
