LCF Alumni stars on WGSN Global Fashion Awards Shortlist

Wednesday 3rd October saw the announcement of the shortlist in the 2012 WGSN Global Fashion Awards with a host of LCF Alumni being nominated in these prestigious awards.

2012 MA Fashion Design Technology – Menswear Graduate Byungmun Seo has been shortlisted in the Emerging Designer category, alongside Fannie Schiavoni who graduated from BA Fashion Design Technology – Womenswear in 2009. Renowned for her original signature chain accessories, Fannie’s focus is on durable, hard wearing materials and distinctive designs and has seen celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Dakota Fanning all wearing her creations.

Byungmun, who showed his collection on the catwalk at the MA show in February has drawn attention for his innovative pattern cutting and tailoring and seen his work featured in the likes of Dazed and Confused Magazine.

Young designer Shireeka Devlin has been nominated for the The LYCRA® Future Designers Award. Shireeka, from Ireland only graduated from the BA Fashion Design Technology – Surface Textiles in June this year creates extremely wild, fun and colourful digital and hand printed pieces that are wearable yet utterly show-stopping.

Whilst established footwear designer and graduate of Cordwainers at London College of Fashion Charlotte Olympia Dellal is nominated for the Footwear & Accessories Designer Award. Dellal who moved straight into setting up her own label after graduation has become one of London’s most sought after footwear and accessory designers, renowned for her playful, quirky and inimitable designs under her label, Charlotte Olympia.

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards honour fashion’s individuals and businesses who are pushing the boundaries and setting the design agenda on a global scale.The winners will be decided by a panel consisting of influential individuals in the fashion and style industry from around the world, with judges from Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Australia, the US and the UK.

The award ceremony will take place for the first ever time in London this year at The Savoy on 5 November - good luck to all LCF graduates on the night!
