Last night LCF held its annual BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology show at a new venue – The Studio in Paddington, central London. Stars including LCF supporters Jo Wood, Jodie Harsh, Harold Tillman and Tahita Bulmer from the New Young Pony Club were amongst the crowd of over 500 industry guests keen to see the 25 young designers who graduate this summer in Womenswear, Menswear and Surface Textiles.
As well as celebrity supporters, thousands of people from all over the world logged onto the LCF website to watch the show live which was themed LCF LOVES. In a push for more diversity on the catwalk, 20 models were chosen from an open street casting event to walk alongside the professional models.
Presenting the night’s awards were sponsors and supporters who were introduced by Professor Frances Corner OBE, Head of College. Caroline Marx of Barnett Lawson Trimmings presented the Barnett Lawson Award for Best Use of Trimmings to Charlotte Barry (22) from Liverpool, who was praised for her incredible detailing. Tro Manoukian from Biddle Sawyer Silks then presented the Biddle Sawyer Silks Award to Stine Riis (28) from Copenhagen, Denmark, for her innovative use of silk with wool, chiffon and patent leather.
Collection of the Year, the most prestigious award of the night, was presented by up and coming designer Samata Angel, who was named by Red Magazine as a “One to Watch” in 2011. The winner was Nova Chiu (24) from Hong Kong who was judged to have phenomenal technical skill and creative flair.
Other guests on the night included X-Factor stars Belle Amie, Barbara Hulanicki, Misty Miller, Daisy de Villeneuve, Karen Binns, Alice Levine, Mary Charteris and Jane Shepherdson.
