Our Postgraduate Art Auction celebrated its tenth anniversary last night with lots by friends and alum flying off the podium. The Auction broke previous records raising £47,545 and with all proceeds supporting the postgraduate art students in their final year our thanks to all who came and showed their support.

What happens when you mix an arts school with a business school? The innovation and provocative Central Saint Martins Birkbeck MBA of course! And the FT were pretty interested too.

Fine Art alum Helen Marten (and Turner Prize 2016 nominee) won the inaugural Hepworth Prize for Sculpture and pledged to share the £30,000 award with her fellow nominees, including Steven Claydon, MA Fine Art alumnus.

Charlie Craggs

Tackling transphobia through nail art, the wonderful Charlie Craggs came to the College to manicure all as part of the Students’ Union and the LGBTQ society’s events for Transgender Awareness Week.

The inimitable Vivienne Westwood visited the College to talk to Fashion students about environmental activism, green energy and just a dash of fashion. Marking the publication of her diaries, Get a Life, she inspired the students to head to the library, saying “If you read a good book it’s like living another life. it’s the greatest concentrated experience you can have.

Richard Quinn, H&M Prize

Fashion alum, Richard Quinn won the H&M Design Award 2017. Quinn’s prize includes €50,000, one year of mentorship and the opportunity to have key items from his collection developed and sold at H&M. Congratulations Richard!
