An exciting new collaborative project between CSM and Dazed’s global platform Satellite Voices will see BA FCP students creating a series of locally inspired films responding to contemporary global culture.
New website Satellite Voices connects seven teams of influential local city editors from Paris, Moscow, Rome, Munich, Dubai, Shanghai and Santiago to support the very best of emerging creative talent from around the world.
FCP students will be producing eight films inspired by the theme of the ‘mixtape’ to create personal, political and social commentaries within a fashion and style context. Designed to be comprehensible in any language, the films will be viewed across the globe and are intended to inspire up-and-coming creatives to respond with their own films.
To kick-start the project, students took part in a workshop at CSM with filmmaker Edward Webb–Ingall, exploring different methods of using a camera, movement and taking part in exercises that will feed into the finished films. The workshop also featured talks from acclaimed director Kathryn Ferguson and fashion filmaker Ruth Hogben.
The student filmakers will be introduced via the Satellite Voices website over the forthcoming weeks, prior to the launch of the film series.
