Hats off to Dexter Lander who is currently studying BA Fashion Communication and Promotion for winning this year’s Fujifilm Student Awards!
The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Extreme’, with students being briefed to capture the meaning of that word in a single image.
Marketing Director Lisa Creagh of Metroprint said of the image: “Dexter Lander’s image of buildings destroyed by the Bosnian war and then built under with new developments is a fantastic example of photography’s ability to create extreme visual contradictions. At first the image looks like a composite, but on further reflection you realise that this is ‘real’ and the two halves are in fact two separate historical eras, sitting together in extraordinary discord. It’s an elegant visual allegory that deserved to win.”
