Camberwell alumni selected in Mall Galleries Threadneedle Prize

Camberwell College of Arts alumna, Mel Lloyd, who graduated in 2002 from the BA Visual Arts Ceramics and Sculpture course has been selected to go through into the next round of Mall Galleries The Threadneedle Prize for Painting and Sculpture.

Mel’s piece ‘House of Comfort’ (pictured above), made of everything from car tyres to coke cans, was inspired by African township shacks. Mel used ceramic hot water bottles, painted in intense colours, to pay homage to the deprivation and hardship found in some of the poorest African towns.

Good luck, Mel!
