Progress Update 10 July 2017

As the building development at Camberwell College of Arts continues passersby may have noticed scaffolding has now been erected at the front of the 1970’s building at Peckham Road. This is in preparation for installation of new windows to the front of the building. Much like the work done to the windows at the back of the building last summer, the work will be a mixture of replacement and reconfiguration work.

The work to the windows goes along side the ongoing works to create the new entrance and reception area. Behind the hoardings the demolition work to drop the new entrance to below street level also continues and it’ll be the last floor of the building to have new windows installed.

Hi, did you uncover the original architect for the 70s building, think Adrian Holme was looking into it back in 2015 when Alex James Bruce asked him about it. I think (my Dad) Charles Weiss was one of the structural engineers, I’ve just found the building listed in a resume of projects executed by his partnership.

    Hi Emma
Thanks for getting in touch; an article our architects found cites George Buzak of Murray Ward & Partners as the architects of the 70’s building, and, as you say, Charles Weiss & Partners as the structural engineers. Happy to send you a digital copy of the article if you would like to see it? Please email me directly c.martin@camberwell.arts.ac.uk if so.
