Atrium Preview: Peckham Road
We now have more information about the work taking place at Camberwell College of Arts this coming summer. The proposal is for an atrium that sits between the new academic building and the 1970’s block on Peckham Road, with links on some upper levels so that students and staff can move between the two buildings.
Building works this summer will largely focus on enabling works for the proposed atrium. Part of this work will involve replacing and re-configuring some existing windows at the back of the 1970’s block. The architects have proposed that the window frames be black to mirror the design of the windows on the new academic building. Work will also be done to the refurbish the north exterior of the 1970’s block.
Work continues on the new academic building and we’ll be publishing progress pictures here next week. Meanwhile its business as usual for the rest of the college; show season is well under way with successful interim shows held by first year BA Graphic Design and BA Illustration students last week.
Over at Wilson’s Road the ‘Making Shed’ next door to the BA/MA Neal’s Yard workshop has been named by our technicians in honour of one of our prolific BA Illustration third years. Wilson’s Road will also host the degree shows for our undergraduate design courses and MA Conservation.
