We have invested in our fantastic Archives & Special Collections with a new display case for Camberwell College of Arts Library. A finishing touch, as part of Camberwell’s redevelopment project, the case was fabricated and installed by Click Netherfield, one of the UK’s leading case manufacturers. Measuring over 3 meters wide, the single glass pane to the front of the case weighs over 200kg and only just fit through the Victorian doorframes within the college.

Watch the Instagram story of the case here.

The inaugural display Camberwell: the long view curated by Jacqueline Winston-Silk and Gustavo Grandal Montero, is now open. The exhibition celebrates the history of the college. Told through the books, objects and archive material which survive within the Special Collections at Camberwell Library and in the University’s Institutional Archive.

It was very much a collaborative project. The case graphics were designed by graduate Laura Karklina and generously funded through Arts Temps 20:20 Design. The mounting of archive material was undertaken by Camberwell’s Conservation Department.

We envisage the case will be programmed bi-annually with a focus on highlighting the University’s collections and showcasing how this material is used within teaching and learning.
