From the experience of our workshops it looks like OER engagement is good for rapidly diagnosing digital literacy learning requirements (especially from group work) at individual and departmental levels. Combined with the ALTO fieldworker concept this has the possibility of delivering targeted support in an very economic way – as long as the fieldworkers are trained up enough. We shall be working with the UAL JISC digital literacy project DIAL to take this further and we are talking about creating a UAL handbook (or should that be open CourseBook?) on how to ‘do’ OER at the UAL (and potentially at other A&D colleges).
