LCF and London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) have launched a competition for LCF students to design a high impact artwork for the hoardings which will be installed around the building site at Stratford where the East Bank development, including LCF’s new home, is being built.
An opportunity for one student’s work to take centre stage at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, at a site next to the London Aquatics Centre (which has approx 1 million visitors per year, most of whom come from the surrounding communities). The hoarding design will be installed by the end of April 2019, in time for the FINA World Diving Championships in May, which sees the site filled with global media and film crews.
Students who registered interest went on a tour of the site to get an understanding of the size of the work and its viewpoints, and submissions were entered on 8 March. Judging is currently in process, and the panel includes representatives from LLDC, LCF’s Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Imaging and Illustration Cameron Haynes, and representatives for Legacy Youth Voice; the panel of young people who live and study in the area.
We will soon announce the winner and show the work being installed, so watch this space and make sure you visit the Aquatics Centre next time you are in Stratford!
