One student’s design could be a permanent feature in the new LCF Building in Stratford

LCF and Arts SU are launching the second in a series of competitions intended to enable LCF students to be involved in the development of the College’s new building on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

This time, the opportunity is for students to collaborate with the design team on a series of special concrete finishes that will form a permanent feature in the new LCF building. The design vision is to cast the design into the concrete surface of the lift lobbies and on the five double-height columns in the heart of the building.

Creative Brief

The brief is to design a pattern that could be developed with the architectural team to create the special finishes for these two components of the building. The design team is looking for up to five individual designs to develop in collaboration with the participating students – three for the lift lobbies and two for the columns.

The design should speak to the history, tradition and ethos of LCF.

Key dates

The deadline for entries is 19 April 2019, then there will be an opportunity for student entries to work with the architects to develop their ideas, before a winner is chosen.

Fashion District and LCF launch Schools Innovation Challenge

As part of the EAST-Education initiative, London College of Fashion and Fashion District will be running a Schools Innovation Challenge. The competition hopes to inspire and challenge Key Stage 2 & 3 students to consider how new technologies could change the way we shop.

Between March and June, students will be introduced to new concepts which will challenge them to think creatively, work as a team and build digital and problem-solving skills. On June 17th, teams of students will be invited to submit their own concepts for what their own “store of the future” could look like through the use of technology.

Shortlisted entries will be invited to pitch at a celebratory event, where winners will be selected by a panel of industry experts. Generously sponsored by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, there will be six cash prizes with 2 x £1500 for the winning entries and 4 x £500 for the two runners up in each category to support the creative curriculum back in school.

We will be sharing some of the winning entries here in Summer 2019.
